Geofix® / Geoshapes®
Geofix® (in some countries known as Geoshapes®, 3D Geoshapes® or Klickies™ is a unique and patented geometric construction system of interlocking geometric shapes, which easily snap together to create an endless variety of fantastic 2D and 3D models.
Each piece is made of tough, non-toxic polycarbonate, they have been designed for children to explore and discover spatial relationships, building their awareness of geometry, measurement, counting and patterning skills and promoting co-operative learning and problem-solving in a classroom environment, from Early Years to secondary school and beyond. Great for S.T.E.(A.)M., science, design, maths or just plain fun at home!
Each shape is supplied both separately in a blister-pack and in combination sets. Geofix® shapes are available in three colour ranges - solid, crystal fluorescent, and pastel.
Blister-packs contain each of the 6 colours in equal quantities.
The system consists of 16 different interlocking geometric shapes, all compatible with each other. Triangle, square and rectangular panels clip into like shapes adding another feature to 3D models created. The design of Geofix® takes full advantage of the properties of polycarbonate, which ensures a secure engagement overcoming the problem of springs breaking that occurs in similar products made from ABS or other lower-quality polymers.
For a direct comparison highlighting the advantages of ours over similar geometric construction toys please refer to the wording of our U.S. Patent, which can be found here: (view under Geoshapes, document ID US D409668 S)
Connecting the shapes
To connect Geofix® position 2 pieces on a flat surface, then use your thumbs and index fingers to click them together.
Building using "nets"
The construction of geometric models or polyhedra has exercised a great fascination over the minds of mathematicians of all ages, amongst whom some of the greatest names in mathematics -Plato, Archimedes and Euclid. Building with Geofix®, children experience this fascination by discovering the patterns and relationships that exist between geometric models such as the Platonic and Archimedean Solids. The easiest way to construct 3D structures is to begin by connecting the shapes to form a 2D "net", and then folding it up to form the solid. Icosahedron net (left) and 3D Icosahedron (right).

The Geodesic dome is a brilliant way to introduce Buckminster Fuller' Geodesic Sphere Five small isosceles triangles are used to replace each pentagon used in the construction of an icosidodecahedron and create the curved surface of the dome. Ideal for demonstrating geometric and design concepts. The Geodesic Dome was invented by Dr. Walter Bauersfeld, chief of the Zeiss Optical Works plant in Jena (Germany). More information concerning this invention can be found here. However, the Dome became famous worldwide thanks to Richard Buckminster Fuller's structures. His thought and bibliography can be found here. An interesting contribution to geodesic dome mathematics can be found here.

For each of the 17 activities provided, Teacher’s Notes outline strand and objectives from the perspective of the Australian National Statement on Mathematics. The related Student Activity Sheets explain each task as simply as possible.
3-403 Learning Space with Geofix® - Upper Primary (grades 3-6). The activities in this book were designed to develop children's spatial awareness, measurement and number skills. They have been suggested by teachers and tried out in classrooms. For each of the 23 activities provided, Teacher’s Notes outline strand and objectives in the perspective of the Australian National Statement on Mathematics. The related Student Activity Sheets explain each task as simply as possible.
3-404 Exploring Geometry with Geofix by Professor Don S. Balka - Secondary School (Grades 6 to 12). The activities focus on the areas contained in NCTM Standards: Principles and Standards for School Mathematics that are related to geometry and measurement in Grades 5 to 12. Problem solving and algebra are also embedded in many of the activities.
3-503 Sierpinski Pyramid Poster.
The Sierpinski Pyramid provides a fascinating introduction to fractals. At the bottom of the poster is printed a Teacher's Guide, which gives background information and suggests cooperative geometry activities.
Tessellations
To tessellate means to cover completely with one or more geometric shapes in a repeating pattern with no overlapping shapes and no gaps between them. We have prepared tessellations (mosaics) with almost all our shapes including pentagon & decagon.
Poly and Poly Pro
Poly is a shareware program for exploring and constructing models of polyhedra, produced by Pedagoguery Software Inc (Canada).
Poly will generate and print out nets of 126 different convex polyhedra built with Geoshapes®/Geofix®. It shows all the Platonic, the Archimedean and the Johnson solids, in addition to Prisms, Anti-prisms and Geodesic Spheres up to frequency 6. Poly Pro is an enhanced version of Poly that adds three-dimensional export capabilities.
